So I just put together my tentative order on the Blueberry site to see what cost I would have when I was ready to order and actually had the money to do so. In my order is 12 minky OS and 7 minky training pants for my dd and 1 minky wet bag. And the order total.... $487.40 and thats not even including the inserts that I'm going to get from another site. Well at least I know what i'm in for. Now that we have found out we are having a girl i'm definitely doing cloth. I started having issues with my son with the fuzzi bunz so I gave up quickly. However I had huge success with Lily so we are definitely a go. I just want to get the diapers in hand so i'm ready to go. And I'm sure my dd would love the minky training pants. Well at least I know what i'm in for. And i'm sure 12 isn't enough diapers either. I'll hold out a little longer though on a few other colors to become available.
update....
So I'm going to have the money to order these diapers in a couple days so i'm getting pretty excited. I put together another preliminary order including
6 training pants
8 stuffable aio in size large
22 Minky OS pocket
1 minky wet bag
grand total = $899.89
I partially don't know how well if at all the OS will fit ds. He is totally still within the measurement/weight limits of them. I just don't know how they will fit on him. Thats why I also got 8 larges. I'm kind of expecting to make some kind of return of somesort. Once I know which diapers fit and work for him. After all he will be 3 in Feb and thats when the baby is due as well so if they are both wearing the minky then I will need that many for 2 of them to be using them. However he might then grow out of those and i might need to move him into the larges anyways. I'll just have to make up my mind quick and try each diaper out on him quick so that I can return what I don't want within the time they allow returns.
Yeah, blueberrys do not come cheap AT ALL!!! I have bought most of mine off of diaperswappers.com. You can get some pretty amazing deals on there, I would totally recommend looking into it! Thank goodness hubby never saw the bills or I think he would have made me give up cloth!

i've checked out that site a couple times but its just a mad house in there. Without watching for updated listings constantly I don't know how you catch anything good in there.
i bought my dd diaper at wallmart and i found them to be the cheapiest, but i wanted to try cloth... but the price is nuts does it really make sence to go cloth? And how many would i need to buy?
Thats one of those big secrets about going cloth. You can save money, but only really if you go with prefolds and covers. I spent a GOOD amount of money getting our stash of about 50-60, but they are all one size, so I dont have to buy anymore. For me going to cloth is now only partly about saving money in the long run. I'm in it more for the environmental perks and health of my kiddos. But yeah, hardly anyone saves money converting to cloth because it is sooo addicting.
I spent well over $700 on disposables and wipes and ointments. Even if I were to spend the same on cloth I'll be happier to have something to "show" for it. I've thrown out so much money it's insane.
