MISTYRG would you feed this to a baby?
I keep thinking butternut squash and apples would be really yummy together and I found this recipe...WDYT?? with the butter and spices and brown sugar would YOU feed it to emily?
1 small butternut squash, about 2 pounds
2 apples, cored, peeled, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup cold butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Peel squash, scoop out seeds, and cut in small pieces.
Place squash and apple slices in oblong baking dish (7x11-inch). Blend remaining ingredients with fork or pastry cutter until crumbly.
Distribute over squash and apple.
Cover and bake butternut squash casserole at 350° for about 45 to 50 minutes.
Butternut squash recipe serves 6 to 8.

I was told cinnamon is a high allergen for babies under 9 months.
I'd just bake the two and blend them together. If he doesn't get used to butter in his food he won't expect it.

YES!!! I would feed it to Emily. And I'm glad you posted this because I have a butternut squash in my fridge and have been looking for a recipe to try with it. Thankfully, I have apples here, too . . . .
I think I'll make this tonite. Ethan and I will be eating it, too . . .
Thanks . . .

Yeah Paula Dean says that's why she's fat.
DH and I recently cut down our butter use to 1lb a month from 1 lb a week.
I love butter and brown sugar on acorn squash.

Wow . . . I buy the small tubs of butter and end up throwing half of it out when it expires or gets nasty . . . I rarely use butter.

I bake a lot so that's how 90% of it went. Pie crust, cakes, cookies etc.

I'd teach you if you lived closer.
Right now I'm working on egg and butter replacements and still having the chemistry of baking work.
