Biggrin Myths and Misconceptions

So when you decided to bottle feed did you get a slew of myths coming your way about your baby turning into a frog or maybe growing up to be a serial killer? (Okay, not serious about those two but you get the gist) What are some myths that you have heard about baby's that are bottle fed?

Well everyone insisted that she'd get ear infections, and while I know that research and studies may have been leaning toward that being true, Hailey's never had an ear infection in her life. I know that I bonded much better over the bottle than the boob b/c breastfeeding was hurting so bad that I was starting to resent her.

I always heard that my kid would get sick all the time because I didn't breastfeed him. He is one of the healthiest kids I know. He's maybe been sick twice since he was born (knock on wood). One of my neighbor's breastfed for over a year and her child is constantly sick.

They'll go into puberty earlier.

Will be unattached to their parents.

Rotten teeth. (That's true, if you let a kid fall asleep with a bottle or put koolaid in it. I know a six year old with false teeth because she went to sleep with a bottle until she was 2.)

Clue 6
Yum, Mommy, this is great!
I can't believe that it's homemade!
Squash was yummy, but cinnamon's not
It made this dish kinda hot!

Hehe, I've never heard the puberty earlier! That's a great one. I was breastfed for 8 months and got my first period at age 10, can't really get a whole lot earlier than that without being some sort of medical mystery.

I was breastfed for 12 months and I got my period at 9 (a week before my tenth b-day). I was gonna ay you can't get much earlier than that. We'd have a bunch of PMSing 5 year olds.

Maybe it is true, Hailey sure is PMS-y today.

OKay I have this theory that girls go through their PMS even before their periods. They have the hormones in them from birth so why not? KWIM? I know DD goes through her "PMS" phases. But I started at 12 and I was bottle fed ,not formula b/c I couldn't keep it down, but evaporated watered down. So that puberty early is soo wrong lol, unless they mean just formula fed babies.

David hasn't had any ear infections, and he was barely breastfed before switching.... I hope that luck continues with both kids.

The main myth I always hear is the one about bonding... okay, breastfeeders believe it to be true, but to me its a myth.... you won't be as bonded. I am really close to my son, and since switching to the bottle with Maya a cloud has lifted and I can finally enjoy her. I do not believe I would bond better with David or Maya had I breastfed for a year +
