They Mean Well

Have you received any ridiculous advice? Solicited or unsolicited?

I thought it could be fun to have a running list of things people told you to do for yourself or your baby that there's just no way you'd do.

Yesterday my MIL told me she started DH on rice cereal at 2 months, translation: "your baby is hungry all the time. He needs to have solids now cause clearly your milk is not enough". She's a nurse. I'm surprised she doesn't know better, but I know she means well. She and FIL always think crying=hunger. 30 years ago they also pushed mothers to formula so it's not surprising they'd also do solids that early.

Oh goodness! My sister was telling me about suppositories for babies. (I asked her what she did for her kids because em missed a day of pooping last week) She was telling me some other things as well that I can't remember but DH sent me a text saying "don't do that stuff" lol

My boss gave me the same advice, except that she said she started her daughter at 2 weeks on cereal and i should be doing it. My MIL told me that my baby sleeps too much and we need to force him to stay awake all day with no naps so he will sleep at night. Oh and that schedules are not needed for babies.

Yes! I have so many from one person that I can't even post them all here. I basically am made to feel like I am doing everything wrong.

The classic one because my older one has never been sick that that is a bad thing and I am not helping develop the immune system. What!?

Sorry, I'm jumping in here!

I got tons of advice, especially about breastfeeding from people who solely formula fed.. Anyway.. I got so sick of it, I almost bought this on etsy:

That's awesome. I knew I couldn't be the only one! Keep the stories coming girls. Let's find the humor in them and vent together. Lol
