dry scalp

DS is 2.5 and I've been using the same shampoo for over a year. Its Johnson and Johnson head to toe wash. Ive noticed in the week or so his scalp is getting very very dry and flakey. I've also noticed some red spots where it looks like it might have bled a little or its raw.
DH suffers from psoriasis so I'm not sure if that's it or just dry scalp. Any one know of a good brand of shampoo for toddlers with dry scalp or any remedies I can try?

We love the Walgreen's natural brand. J&J is loaded with awful chemicals

Hmm...I wouldn't imagine he'd start having a reaction to a shampoo you've been using forever ("awful" chemicals or not.) Maybe it's possible he has developed psoriasis or something along those lines. Or if the humidity has changed and it's super dry in your house, that could have just caused some dry skin issues maybe.

I saw a "gentle" shampoo from Aveeno. Maybe that would be something to try?

My son has eczema and what we do is not shampoo as frequently cause it dries him out. We will do a bath with Lukewarm water but no soap. And one soap him up every few nights or when he really needs it.

We use Burt's bees and that seems to work well. There are tons of gentle shampoos on the market. J&j causes me to itch so that's why I didn't use it on my son. I am allergic to something in it but I used it as a kid so he may have developed an allergy to it.

Many people think of Aveeno as a more natural option and don't know its the same company

Ah. Interesting. For me, I didn't think it was more natural. I just know that it can be a bit more gentle on people's skin than other products. It really just depends on each person's skin though.
