My Home Birth (August 3rd, 2009)

Thought I would post this here for anyone who is curious about/considering/scared of the idea of a natural birth at home.

This is a positive story, but does not gloss over the reality of the work and discomfort that comes with labor.

I'm happy to answer any questions anyone has about the experience!

thanks for sharing!

nothing like the pain of that ring of fire eh? or tearing...i think it was worse in my head because i knew what was happening. So much of labor is mental.

It definitely has been aptly described - ring of FIRE. But, I have to say, your state of mind has such an effect. I had been in labor so long that I was actually relieved to feel that pain, since I knew it meant I was close.

And, I didn't know I was tearing, since my midwife was doing warm ginger compresses during that time (I highly recommend that).

Now that I look back at that post, there are little details like that that I left out.
