The love of  jello!  Growing up my mom and dad made what we called knox blox.  They'd make all different shapes, sizes and colors.  Of course, I had to kick it up a notch. I will admit that since getting out of traditional school where we had assemblies with flags, & speakers, and veterans... I don't think about the real meaning of Memorial Day anymore... or several other holidays for that matter. Memorial Day.. and I've forgotten.
