but-i-did3This seems the be the newest, and most popular, phrase in my three year old’s vocabulary. Whether it’s putting away her toys, finishing a meal, washing her hands or even going potty. My Mia has already completed that task and done so quite thoroughly to her standards.

Does anyone remember the Cosby Show? There was an episode where Cliff Huxtable is asking either Rudy or Vanessa to get cleaned up. The line goes something like: Walk into the bathroom, close the door, take off your clothes, get into the shower, turn on the water, Use Soap!, rinse off, get a towel, etc. lol I think you get the idea.

It’s almost become a running joke in our household now when asking Mia to complete a task, but then again, my husband and I grew up watching The Cosby Show so we pull from it often. It’s good we find the humor in it. We just now have to find a way to express to Mia the right ways to do things, and I think we’re on our way. We slow down and take our time explaining to her how to go about doing things. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing her eyes light up and hear her exclaim: I Did It Right!!

This makes me laugh, Tira, cos I have to do this with my 5 year old son every.time I ask him to do something. I have to break it down into steps for him or he just does not get it.
